Dress the door, the mantel or the table. Taste the wine.
Step into Gatcombe House for an evening of festive making, led by Jenni, an expert Isle of Wight florist. Jenni will guide you through every step of creating your own Christmas piece — a wreath for the door, a garland for the fireplace or a display for the table, depending on the date.
She’ll share the tips and tricks that make a handmade piece look polished, and she’ll be on hand to help whenever you need her. Everything you need is provided, including fresh foliage, some of it gathered from the estate itself, and the seasonal finishing touches.
You’ll be welcomed with a glass of Gatcombe estate wine, then settle in for around three relaxed hours of making, chatting and getting into the Christmas spirit. We keep the group to just ten, so it feels more like a gathering of friends than a class. You’ll go home with your finished piece and a Gatcombe goody bag.
Come on your own, bring a friend, or make an evening of it with a group of friends.
Places are limited.
Wednesday 18 November and Friday 27 November, 6.30pm
Start the season with a wreath made by you. Jenni will show you how to build a full, generous wreath from fresh foliage, some of it from the estate, and finish it with seasonal details, so it’s ready to hang on your front door or indoors for Christmas.
Saturday 5 December at 4pm and Wednesday 9 December at 6.30pm
Dress your mantel like a country house. Jenni will show you how to build a lush, full garland from fresh foliage and seasonal touches, the kind that makes a fireplace the centre of the room, and you’ll learn how to place it so it looks natural.
Saturday 19 December at 2pm and Monday 21 December at 4pm
Bring your table to life with a centrepiece you’ll be proud to put out for guests. Jenni will teach you how to layer fresh foliage, texture and seasonal details into a display that looks effortless, and you’ll leave with a showpiece for your dining table.
